Chick Packaging is a trusted logistics partner to one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.  Chick provides support to their supply chain operations group in the Chicago area as well as logistics support to their division near Dallas, Texas. This customer looked to Chick for help in reducing supply chain costs - handling, storage and freight were resulting in damaged products. 

This company selected Chick Packaging to perform a packaging solutions audit to determine where they could trim costs but still protect their product.  The solution was the Foldy-Pac™ Nailess Wooden Crate System, which is manufactured solely by Chick. The Foldy is strong, lightweight, collapsible and reusable and has a net volume ratio that is superior to typical wooden crating. 

The Foldy Pac™ is particularly useful for goods being shipped by air freight as the finished container is not only lighter but can hold up to 30% more payload within the same overall package volume, saving freight cost regardless of whether shipping rates are based on weight or volume.  Importantly, the Foldy Pac™ box can be supplemented as needed with internal foams or padding, vapor protection materials, integrated pallets systems, vibration-inhibiting support structures and other features to meet demanding packaging applications.

Chick began providing the Foldy-Pac™ in place of the customer’s existing packaging for over 50 of the company’s part numbers, and the company experienced a significant reduction in supply chain costs within the first year.  In time, this telecommunications company enjoyed a 57% reduction in airfreight costs and a 37% reduction in packaging expenses.
